Logistics support delivers Christmas cheer for the Age Concern “celebs”

Logistics support delivers Christmas cheer for the Age Concern celebsThis Christmas ILG is working closely with local Age Concern offices in Burgess Hill and Merstham to supply and deliver a Christmas box to the local community’s “celebs”, 81 deserving elderly people who ILG is honoured to support.

ILG, through its finance team, purchased a range of Christmas treats and utilised its logistical expertise along with the commitment of the ILG warehouse teams to pack 23 items into each of the boxes, with even the boxes donated by ILG’s regular packaging supplier, Challenge Packaging.

The first 41 boxes were delivered by ILG drivers to homes around the Merstham, Redhill and Reigate area and a further 40 boxes were either given out at the Burgess Hill party or delivered on the 21st to “celebs” in Burgess Hill, Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint and East Grinstead.

Grant Ashley Managing Director of ILG commented

"It really has been thanks to the loyal support of ILG’s many clients this year that has ensured a successful 2009 for the company.”
Mr Ashley also said “it just felt right to do something for the local community and everyone at the company believed ILG could make a genuine contribution that would use ILG’s skills and assets; the packing and distribution of Christmas goodie boxes providing ILG with a tangible way of supporting those in the local community with the most deserving needs.   Thanks were due to Challenge Packaging and TTX Transport for their support with the project and of course the whole team at ILG in Burgess Hill & Gatwick who made it all happen.”

Christine Bament from the Befriending Scheme Burgess Hill commented “this is a wonderful Christmas treat for our elderly housebound and we really appreciate the hard work that made it all possible. The hampers will make a real difference to their  enjoyment of this time of the year and staff from ILG will be there to distribute the hampers at our Christmas party on Saturday 19th Dec at Burgess Hill Day centre or deliver to our celebs doors.”

Mike Ward, Chief Officer of Age Concern Merstham, Redhill and Reigate said “This has been a most rewarding exercise; through the good will of ILG certain members of our Clubs have been able to have that truly Christmas feeling.  Everyone involved has found it really uplifting at a time when most news is bad, what a wonderful Christmas feeling.  We would like to thank ILG for this generosity and for giving us back the faith in human nature”.
