£1,000 Donation at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity
25th January 2012

We are pleased to announce our first 21st Birthday Winner was @Ultimatefinish and their chosen charity was Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
@Ultimatefinish Managing Director, Jez Gilman commented on his choice of charity ”Remarkable children with remarkable courage, say no more!”
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to make sure the hospital remains the world-class pioneering institution it is today. Support from fundraising events like this helps them to buy vital equipment, fund pioneering research and most importantly rebuild and refurbish some of their hospital site. This redevelopment will allow them to replace inconvenient, cramped outdated wards with
new facilities where parents can sleep alongside their child and will mean that children have more space in which to get well.
Grant Ashley, our Founder & CEO presented the Cheque to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity’s Community Fundraising Executive, Catherine Sheard. “Travelling up to London to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hopsital (GOSCH), it dawned on me how fortunate I was as a parent of two children not to have ever been there before. I was met by Catherine Sheard who went to so much trouble to show me around both the existing hospital and the new wing which is due to open in September. When we stood at the entrance to take some photos and to present the cheque on behalf of Ultimate Finish there was a constant stream of parents with children; each of them facing their own challenge. We visited the chapel within the hospital which was a very moving experience, each of the windows had 100’s of cuddly toys left there by children over many years. GOSCH is a wonderful facility and they do some incredible work, Catherine explained how they rely heavily on donations and fund raising activity to cover the running costs and I left there wondering what I could do and also what ILG and our clients can do to support them in the future………"
