Case Study

Little Green Radicals: Ethical Fashion for Children

Little Green Radicals is a London-based company that sells organic, Fairtrade clothing for babies and children worldwide. Launched in 2005, the company has worked hard to establish sound ethical supply chains and is now focusing on growth through e-commerce, wholesale and flash sales.

“We moved to ILG at a point where our focus on e-commerce required a slicker operation and I feel we parked a problem that used to be there. We know that it will all work – and if there is ever an issue, I know I can speak to Sam and it will be dealt with. The culture of responsiveness at ILG is great. It means we can get back to concentrating on our customers.”

Flexing for Future Growth

Our Fashion and Beauty Fulfilment service is set up to react to the bespoke requirements of this sector. Flexibility and agility are fundamental attributes of this service and that means working closely with the customer and learning fast. The flash sale pattern was a case in point: we had to learn fast and adapt quickly but we now take these sales in our stride. Little Green Radicals gives us a prediction of the number of units it expects to sell and we make sure we are staffed-up to meet spikes in demand.

As well as this flexibility, moving to ILG has given Little Green Radicals the warehouse capacity, IT and choice of despatch partners to manage its growth in volume and ensure the smooth running of its fulfilment supply chain. This has enabled growth in excess of 40% year on year in the e-commerce channel. Little Green Radicals has established a presence in a number of big markets, such as the US and Germany, and the stage is set for strong e-commerce growth around the world. Our integration with Yusen Logistics will help to facilitate this growth in post-Brexit Europe and beyond.

Seamless Integration

E-commerce has been Little Green Radicals’ main growth area and is the focus for future growth, so a seamless IT capability was an important requirement. Our high-tech systems integration was an essential consideration. Capacity and flexibility were key criteria too – they needed a 3PL that could handle the increase in volumes and manage the supply chain.

EU Demand Spikes

The company has also enjoyed success with flash sales, particularly in Germany. These require large volumes to be picked, packed and dispatched to continental Europe at short notice, which in turn requires a high level of agility.
